Very slow STEP Import

I have a STEP file, which admitedly is large, around 6000 volumes, it took more than 12 hours to load this file in Coreform Cubit. The same file was loadable in 10 minutes in FreeCAD. I turned off every import option which would slow it down no healing, and still took more than 12 hours.

Hi Andy,

This is something we have seen in the past. Part of the issue seems to be that the ACIS STEP importer is slow, but it looks like Cubit’s handling the STEP attributes could aggravate the problem.

We will raise the priority on this issue.

Hi Andy,

I have improved the performance of the STEP import significantly. This should show up in the next release of Cubit within the next few weeks.
