Unite surfaces

Hello,

Uniting volumes in Trelis/Cubit is straightforward. Is it possible to unite surfaces within the same volume? I have a 3D geometry that has been exported from SolidWorks and imported into Trelis (see attached). Only one of the parts of this geometry is shown, which is causing the problem. As shown in the attached image, there are three surfaces on one side (one is a small sliver) that should be a single surface. Can these three surfaces be united? Otherwise, this might have to be done in SolidWorks.

Thanks

There are a several ways to do this. In the GUI they are all found under Geometry/Surface/Modify. If the underlying surfaces share a common mathematical surface, you can try Regularize. You can also try Remove Surface. If neither of those will work you can use the virtual geometry in Trelis and use the Composite operator to create a single surface for meshing. The composite operator can cause problems for some other geometry modifications in Trelis although I believe we have addressed most of those.
