Surface mesh created but volume fails with tetmesh

Hello,

I have two volumes that share a surface. Both volumes can be meshed using tetmesh when meshed on their own. However, after imprinting and merging, problems arise. By meshing volume 1 first and then volume 2, volume 1 will mesh but volume 2 fails to mesh even though all of the surfaces of volume 2 mesh well with tris. The opposite happens when I try to mesh volume 2 before volume 1. I’m confused because it seems that the same surface meshes are generated in both cases, but the second volume I try to mesh always fails. Any suggestions or help are greatly appreciated.

I attached .sat files of the two volumes and the journal file.

Thanks,

Stephen

Nevermind, this problem was solved. The problem was due to the contacting surfaces. Tolerant imprinting and merging caused a problem with the meshing. However, by manually splitting some of the lines outlining the surface from volume 1, so that all of its bounding curves and vertices exactly matched the surface from volume 2 (and vice versa --> I also had to manually split some of the lines outlining the surface from volume 2), the two surfaces were merged with an imprint and merge operation and meshing went smoothly after that.

Thanks,

Stephen
