Part graphics interface not function on Cubit GUI

I installed the latest version of Cubit on my windows 10 computer. After launching Cubit, only a few GUI buttons function. All other buttons are missing or disabled. How to fix it?

Thanks,

Lixin

Please open up a cmd prompt and perform the following commands:

set CUBIT_VERBOSE=5
C:\Program Files\Coreform Cubit 2022.4\bin\coreform_cubit.exe > C:\Users\%USERNAME%\cubit_output.txt

This will generate a file called cubit_output.txt in your user folder. Please attach it here.

C:\Program Files\Coreform Cubit 2022.4\bin\coreform_cubit.exe

Let’s try that again and put the second command in quotes, like this:

set CUBIT_VERBOSE=5
"C:\Program Files\Coreform Cubit 2022.4\bin\coreform_cubit.exe" > C:\Users\%USERNAME%\cubit_output.txt

That’s what I did, the same output:

C:\Program Files\Coreform Cubit 2022.4\bin\coreform_cubit.exe

Does the folder C:\Program Files\Coreform Cubit 2022.4\bin exist? Also, you should do this in a cmd prompt, not powershell.

sorry, I did on powershell, Here is the output:

Do you have any other Qt or Python installations present in your PATH environment variable?

I just installed python 3.10.4

Cubit ships python and Qt in its own installation directory. If you have another installation of Python in PATH or have other Python-related environment variables like PYTHONHOME set, it can interfere with Cubit and Cubit will not function properly.

I did not install Qt or Python before you asked.

OK, glad we’ve ruled that out. It’s probably easiest if we hop on a quick zoom call to debug this further. When is good for you? I’m available from 9-5:30 EST tomorrow.

1:00 PM EST works for me

Just DM’ed you a zoom link

Got it. Thank you very much! Talk to you tomorrow.

For others who may read this, the problem was a previous version of Cubit present in PATH.

Hi scot, I got the same issue here. What procedure should I conduct to fix it? Thanks.

Look at your PATH environment variable. Are there any other versions of Cubit or other scientific computing programs in that variable?

Thank you, scot. Didn’t see any Cubit related variables in PATH. However, several installed sci programs are shown below.

Tecplot is likely the issue, we’ve seen issues related to them in the past. We have some of the same dependencies, but use different versions of those dependencies. How Windows works is that it looks in each folder in PATH to load required libraries from, and it goes in order. So if it finds a library in Tecplot with the same name as the one that Cubit requires, it’ll attempt to load that library instead of the one in Cubit. On Windows it’s generally considered good practice to keep things out of PATH as much as possible to prevent libraries from conflicting like this.
