I have a complex geometry (box with two load regions) and its outer skin as Volume. I can mesh each geometry by itself (box with two load regions and outer skin). But when I try to mesh the combined geometry, I get multiple errors about small features and overlapping faces.
I have to mention that I subtracted the outer skin from the box, so there should be no overlap anymore. The imprint/merge command also worked well.
How can I merge the outer skin with the rest of the geometry?

Volumes box1 and outerskin will need to be decomposed into sweepable volumes and the sweep direction set for the volumes. (See the “Decomposition” video at csimsoft.com/tutorialsTrelis)
In box1 there are holes with rounded bottom that Trelis doesn’t know which surface will be the “bottom”. You can composite surfaces or specify source and target surfaces for the sweep.
Also there are imprinted surfaces on the side of the hole made by imprinting the load volumes. You won’t be able to sweep down across these surfaces, but might try sweeping sideways.
I watched the tutorial video about decomposition and tried to do some of the tutorial files. Currently, the decomposition of this part is too complicated for me as a beginner.
Do you know an alternative way? Maybe I can delete the outer skin and create an outer skin in Trelis such that I can avoid the decomposition process. What are your suggestions?
The model doesn’t allow you to sweep from a source to target surface without going through holes and features, so decomposition is needed. Our Bolt mesher might handle this.
