Floating License not working on MacOS Monterey

I am trying to use a floating license on my Mac Pro with Monterey installed without success. I was able to install Coreform cubit on a virtual machine with windows on it and on a laptop with BigSur connected to the same network but no luck on my Mac Pro with Monterey. Since the virtual machine on the Mac Pro is working I think the only thing left is operative system any suggestion?

Where is your license server? Does the Monterey machine have access to it? What does rlm_diagnostics.txt say in your /bin/licenses directory?

I am not 100% sure where the license server is BUT, thing is from a virtual machine that is on the same Mac the license server works. That make me thing the computer can reach the server but somehow this operative system is not allowing it. As I mentioned I am able to use a Laptop with Big Sur on it too.
In bin/licenses there’s no rlm_diagnostic.txt. BUT I found that file in /Users/myuser/Library/Preferences/Coreform/licenses.

That shows that you’re trying to contact two servers, one at our RLM Cloud instance (which means we’re hosting the license server for you), and one at localhost (which is the VM you’re currently on). The localhost one was probably a connection attempt by you, but since you’re not currently running a license server on that VM it’s not going to do anything.
Looking at your license details on our cloud license server, you’ve only got 30 seats that expired in June of 2021 and 1 seat that expires in April of 2022. So if you’ve already got an instance of Cubit open somewhere else, you won’t be able to open it again in this VM. If you’re supposed to have more than one seat, we can fix that for you, I’ll have to talk to the business guys over here.

Oh you know what, on Mac we DO have a special requirement for RLM licensing. You need to create the Reprise directory and set its permissions correctly, like this:

sudo mkdir "/Library/Application Support/Reprise"
sudo chmod 777 "/Library/Application Support/Reprise"

These instructions are also in the CRITICAL_INSTALL_INSTRUCTIONS.README present in the DMG installer.

I am having the same problem on macOS Monterey, Version 12.2.1. I’ve already created and chmod the “Reprise” directory. I saw that in the README in the .dmg before I moved over the application. When I open Coreform-Cubit, the “Cubit Activation” window pops up. And that is as far as I can go. I am trying to use the latest development version of Coreform-Cubit. I did this all independent of balep. So we are either making the same mistake, but independent of each other, or something else is the problem.

There may be a problem with Monterey specifically then, let me take it up with Reprise.

@xenon54z Can you please run the following commands in a terminal and report the full output?

export CUBIT_VERBOSE=5
coreform_cubit

I couldn’t find “coreform_cubit”, but I did find “./Coreform-Cubit-2021.11”. I set the verbose to 5 and this is what it output:

Reprise says they’re not aware of any significant changes between Big Sur and Monterey and it should work. Can you access https://ls75.rlmcloud.com in your browser from that machine?
I may have to get you a special build with extra logging and debugging tools added to it so we can get more information.

I think I can get to that site. This is what I see when I go there:

image

Right, that’s what we expect. I’ll get you a diagnostic tool that’ll give us precise output and error codes.

Here’s a package you can download onto your local machine and extract. It’s labeled RLM-Server and does indeed come with the floating license server, but you don’t need to install that at all. I piggy-backed off the existing packaging logic to get you something that would work correctly as quickly as I could.
After extracting this package, navigate to the directory and run ./rlm_activate --diagnostic and report the full output please.
http://transfer.coreform.com/fgUkx/RLM-Server-2021.11-Mac64.tar.gz

Something went wrong:

“libiconv.2.dylib” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

This kept popping up all the time.

Here is the output:

$ ./rlm_activate --diagnostic
License Management is enabled
usb support disabled
[2022-04-04 08:55:19.901] [info] RLM session initialized
No available features
trelis status: -1 → No license found
trelis_core status: -1 → No license found
trelis_fea status: -1 → No license found
trelis_cfd status: -1 → No license found
trelis_sculpt status: -1 → No license found

The libiconv error is probably not relevant, that’s a Unicode library. Can you check your firewall for any rules around port 443? There shouldn’t be if you can use the internet normally, but let’s just rule that out. Do you have an antivirus that might be restricting Cubit’s access to the internet?

I turned off my computer’s firewall real quick and tried running ./rlm_activate and then also the Coreform app itself and nothing changed. Same output and same problem. It might be some network firewall which I don’t have access to. However, balep tried it on a virtual machine and it worked there, so the network firewall couldn’t be the problem since it goes through the same wires as the actual mac machine that is running the virtual machine.

So that leaves my anti-virus. And I can’t even open it. However, the other users here should also have the same anti-virus, so I’m a bit puzzled by that as well. Is the diagnostics saying that it can’t get out of my computer or what?

Diagnostics are saying that it can’t find any valid licenses to check out, which usually means that it can reach the server just fine and there aren’t any licenses available. At this point I’m just trying to eliminate variables.
I can see balep’s logins in the server log, but I don’t see any from you. Can you paste the contents of your license file here please?

Umm. The license file name is “INL-https-ls75.rlmcloud.com.lic” and I’m a bit wary of posting the contents here as it has “password=” in it with the password listed.

Is there a more private way to get the contents to you than an open forum?

I’ll send you a private message.

Yep, that license file is correct. Have you attempted to use Coreform Cubit from that machine today?
