Cubit/Trelis floating license

Trelis Version: 16.5 17.1 – Cubit 2020.2
Platform: Any
Issue
Initially using our floating license, I was able to run Trelis 16.5 and 17.1 but not the newly released Cubit 2020.2.
So I updated our license on the license server, and now I can only run Cubit 2020.2 and not Trelis 16.5/17.1
I get a “Failed to initialize license manager”

Hello, we’re sorry for your trouble. Have you updated your license server to the latest? You can download the new executable here: https://coreform.com/support/downloads/

If that doesn’t fix the issue, can you post all three of your rlm_diagnostics.txt files from each installation?

If you swap back to your old license file, do the older installs work again?

Hi I updated the license server to the latest.
Cubit_2020.2 working fine

Hi,

Could you please clarify current situation with the usage of old Trelis versions simultaneously with the Coreform Cubit?

As I know, in our organization people use Cubit/Trelis in the batch mode to generate similar geometries/grids for optimization purposes and because different Trelis versions are not fully compatible, especially if talking about mesh generation, possibility to have a common license pool is very important.

Coreform Cubit 2020.2 is only compatible with Trelis 17.1 on the same license server if a patch is applied to Trelis 17.1 installations. Older Trelis versions will not work with Coreform Cubit 2020.2 in the same license pool. We can give you better support if you direct further questions to support@coreform.com.

Hello Scot,

i seem to have the same problem as bmouginiot has.

In my company we are just using Trelis 17.1 which is currently not working due to the "Failed to initialize licence manager "problem.
To test i installed Coreform which is connecting to the license server and starting up.

Could you also give me the instructions how to get Trelis 17.1 up and working again?

In order to host both Coreform Cubit and Trelis 17.1 licenses on the same license server, you have to patch the trelis_lm library in each Trelis 17.1 install. The patch can be downloaded from https://coreform.com/support/downloads/, it’s called “Trelis 17.1 LM Patch”. Copy the appropriate library for your platform into the Trelis 17.1/bin directory of each Trelis 17.1 install.
