Creating an "infinitesimal cut"

Hi, I’m new to Coreform Cubit so apologies if this is a trivial matter.

I was wondering if it’s possible to create a kind of cut on a volume so that the elements on either side of it, while spatially neighbours, are not actually connected, such that I can create one surface attribute for one side of the cut and another for the other side of the cut. The webcut naturally creates an internal surface but it must have the same attribute on either side, so is there at all a tool like the webcut but that allows for two surfaces with different attributes on each side of the cut?

Hi @hbr,

Welcome to the forum! One of the steps in the Cubit processing is to do an imprint all and merge all to make sure that the volumes are defined properly to create a conformal mesh. To create a non-conformal mesh, the infinite gap, imprint and merge as normal and then do an unmerge on the surfaces where you want the gap.

Thanks,
Karl
