As I have been using the Coreform solver I have noticed that the possible outputs for stress do not include the principle stresses. With the full stress matrix provided through the solver the principal stresses can be obtained by the user on the post processing side, it does take a lot more time than doing it internally in the solver. I did see a value for ‘magnitude’ of stress, but I am unsure how that magnitude is computed (I haven’t looked at the documentation for that yet, so if it is there please excuse me).
Does this variable exist in the field output? If not, would it be possible to include this output in future iterations of the solver? von Mises and Principal stresses are the two most generally used conglomerated stress values at Raytheon.
